GRACE UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST (UCC)
"Serving Justice, Loving Kindness"
A United Church of Christ Congregation in Flemington, NJ
IGUANA COFFEEHOUSE:
Saturday, July 17, 2010
Time: 5:00pm - 11:00pm; Flemington Women's Club
43 Park Avenue; Flemington, NJ

Hello all!   We are very excited to hold a summer iguana unplugged event back at our smaller more intimite venue at the Flemington Women's Club. We will be leaving our electric guitars at home on this one for an evening of acoustic music, including the grand piano (we are back at the Elks Lodge in October).

We are especially excited about our format for this event, which will blend musicians, new and old to iguana events into new musical configurations doing small set throughout the night. Weather permitting, the earlier sets will happen out front of the Women's Club with musicians on the porch.

As always, this is a family friendly event.

Please email me at steinbruck@comcast.net if you can bring a fruit/veggie platter, salad or dessert.

This night will benefit Grace UCC's community outreach efforts. Grace Church is involved with many charitable efforts that benefit the Flemington area and wider community. A $10 minimum donation is requested that includes food (pizza and salads) and beverages.

NOTE: There will not be alcohol at this July 17 event, but we will be fortifying the night with 83% more kick @$$ acoustic music! Don't miss the amazing 5pm kick off!

ALSO: We will be back at the Elks in October! (with cash bar)

Just a quick note of thanks to everyone who came out tonight (for 11-14-09 event). This was the most well attended Iguana Flemington event to date with well over 150 people that came out plus many talented and generous musicians.

The music was amazing and the crowd incredible.

We also raised almost $1000 net all going to the Flemington Food Pantry, along with about 20 bags of canned goods.

Great fun. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! -michael

SUCCESS LEADS IGUANA COFFEEHOUSE TO LARGER VENUE, PARTNERSHIP WITH FLEMINGTON ELKS

Common Interest In Community Building Brings Together Grace Church, Iguana Music and Elks Lodge To Benefit Flemington Area Food Pantry

Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 6:30 p.m.

Following the success of its first year, the Iguana Coffeehouse is set to kick off year two in a new and larger venue to accommodate increased attendance.  Past events have attracted crowds as large as 110 people.  Grace United Church of Christ, Iguana Music, and the Flemington Elks Lodge 1928 have planned this next installment of the popular quarterly event to benefit the Flemington Area Food Pantry.

The fundraiser will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009 from 6:30pm to 11pm at the Elks Lodge located at 165 State Route 31 in Flemington.  The Iguana features a host of top notch musicians who volunteer their talents playing folk, rock, traditional, alternative, country and blues with a wide variety of instrumentation.

The Iguana Coffeehouse is an event where all are welcome.  The intent is to create an opportunity where people from all walks of life can come together, hear great music, and in the process strengthen the local community.  A donation of $10 includes music, pizza, salads and dessert with all profits going straight to the food pantry.  A cash bar will provide all beverages.  Canned goods will also be collected at each event to help meet increasing demand.

IGUANA COFFEEHOUSE HELD ON SATURDAY, APRIL 10, 2010 A GREAT SUCCESS
-Was held at the Elks Lodge located at 165 State Route 31 in Flemington.
-Money raised was given to ANDERSON HOUSE.

  • From Michael Steinbruck- Via Facebook on April 16, 2010:

Well, we had yet another hugely successful Iguana event last Saturday.  The thanks have been and continue to flow in from every direction, so I wanted pass it all on to you all because you made it happen.  I was floored by the positive spirit of the room, the phenomenal music throughout the night, the food and, most of all, the people... connecting, reconnecting, I am still riding that wave.

We had roughly 175 people, all told, raising $1131 for Anderson House.  Please see their heartfelt thank you to all below.  They are great people doing great work.

Thank you to the Good/Frost Project, Billy, the Awful Truth, Grace UCC and Lynda Stephani and her food posse, John for video/sound, and Howard for contributing PA gear and helping me get it all set up and breaking down, and to George Upton and the Elks for all their support and room discount.

I am already working on the next event... the first Iguana Unplugged!  Thanks Jim Lebbad for the great new logo for that.  I am hoping for a July date, but I will keep you all posted.  I have a great list of talented acoustic acts that will do shorter sets through the night.

I am very excited for this one.

Peace, Michael

  • Dear Musicians & Friends of the Iguana Coffeehouse,

I want to extend a warm and resounding thank you from the residents, staff and board of Anderson House for the wonderful gift of your time and talents at last Saturday’s Iguana Coffeehouse.     We are truly honored to have been chosen to benefit from your wonderful performances.   Thanks to you, we received $1131, which will directly benefit the New Jersey women living at our halfway house and working very hard to recover from the disease of addiction and build new lives.

All the staff and board members who came that night had a great time and were impressed with the level of talent and the warm camaraderie and community that was present all around.

Thank you for caring about your community and for sharing your tremendous gifts to benefit others.    Surely you will see many of us from Anderson House at future coffeehouses.  In the meantime, please accept our deepest thanks.

With gratitude,

Anderson House residents, staff and board of trustees
